Introduction and Features of the Upgraded Dynamic Load Balancing

With the popularization of new energy electric vehicles, EV charger is widely used in commercial (public) and residential (personal) fields. However, household electricity needs to pay attention to the power load when using the EV charger, because the power consumption is relatively large, which will affect the total available 220V load of the household. In response to this security problem, the DLB (Dynamic Load Balancing) function came into being.

DLB Concept Explain

DLB (Dynamic Load Balancing) is available in the AC EV Charger for home use, when the EV charger is working with other household appliances at the same time, the DLB box can maintain the dynamic balance of the total household current and ensure the safety of electricity to avoid home over load.

Set the Max current value of the main line on the DLB box. The charger will read this current value and

automatically adjust the charging current (6A-32A) according to the idle load quota, so that the total household current will not be overloaded due to charging. This function can effectively use the power supply without providing additional power for the charging or home line update.

1. PV/Normal DLB: B series EV charger can be matched with DLB boxes to achieve load balance functions.There are many types of DLB boxes, including normal DLB and PV DLB. Normal DLB can

realize home dynamic load balance to avoid overload. PV DLB can realize the priority use of PV power generation, excess electricity to be charged, and reduce the use of mains

electricity.

2.Extreme Mode: The DLB Extreme Mode for a unsmart EV charger can be actived via DIP switch (the third one); For a smart EV charger the mode can be actived via APP setting. Extreme Mode: In this mode, when the charging current<6A, EV Charger will suspend charging, when the charging current≥10A, EV Charger will resume charging.

3.Night automatic full speed mode: We can set the Night Automatic Mode through APP. In this mode, EV Charger will keep charging at full speed.(Pm20:00- AM6:00) Note: Without a button battery build in the charger, the EV Charger will lose this configuration after restart, reconnect APP to configure it.

Practical Application Scenarios of the New Modes

Normal DLB Extreme Mode OFF 1. DLB limits the current range of the EV charger to 6-32A.
2. When the current is reduced to 6A, if the home distribution box is still overloaded, the EV charger will maintain a charging current of 6A.
Normal DLB Extreme Mode ON 1. DLB limits the current range of the EV charger to 6-32A.
2. When the current is reduced to 6A, if the home distribution box is still overloaded, the EV charger will suspend charging.
3. Waiting for the home distribution box to have 10A of current remaining, the charging will restart.

OFF 1. The EV charger works in pure PV mode and the night automatic full speed mode is not turned on.
2. When the night comes, the EV charger will only maintain a minimum charging current of 6A.

2. When the night (20:00-6:00 the next day) comes, the EV charger will be charged at full speed.

Notice: In the PV DLB, if the EV charger is not installed with a button battery, after restarting the EV charger, it will lose this configuration, and you need to reconnect the APP to configure it.

The Difference of DLB Mode between Unsmart EV Charger and Smart EV charger

Unsmart EV charger: 1-phase only. If used with an unsmart DLB box, you can dial to control the EV charger to turn on the Extreme Mode; if used with a PV DLB box, you can’t turn on the Night Automatic Full Speed Mode.

Smart EV charger: 1-phase and 3-phase. 1-phase EV charger is used with 1-phase DLB box, and 3-phase EV charger is used with 3-phase DLB box. And the Extreme Mode of Normal DLB and the Night Automatic Full Speed Mode of PV DLB can be turned on through APP (Z-BOX). The APP and the EV charger are connected through the ESP32 Bluetooth module to realize the function of controlling. Downloading the new firmware via Bluetooth/WIFI can update the EV charger program to the new version.
